Can the 2023 Subaru Solterra Save You Money on Fuel?

As gas prices rise and environmental awareness grows, we’re seeing more and more electric vehicles on the road. Enter the 2023 Subaru Solterra, Subaru’s first-ever all-electric compact SUV. Read on to learn about the new model, available soon at Serra Subaru Champaign, and how it can help you save on fuel costs.
Power and Performance
The 2023 Subaru Solterra is powered exclusively by electricity. This means no more stops at the gas station during long drives, and no more expensive tank fills. The Subaru Solterra SUV uses two electric motors that together produce 215 horsepower and 249 lb-ft of torque.
Drivers can enjoy four different drive modes: Eco, Normal, Power, and X-Mode. The latter is meant to assist with slippery driving conditions or uneven terrain, like off-roading, by sending power individually to each wheel.
Range and Battery Details
The overall capacity of the Subaru Solterra battery pack is 72.8 kWh. This provides a range of 222 or 228 miles, depending on the wheel size you opt for—a pretty impressive feat for an all-wheel drive SUV.
When connected to a Level 2 charging station, the onboard 6.6 kWh charger can fully recharge the battery in nine hours. And while on a DC fast charger, you can juice up the battery in less than an hour.
Model Highlights
If you like to explore more rugged terrain, the Subaru Solterra is a great all-electric, all-wheel drive option. A ground clearance of over 8 inches allows you to move more freely over rocky ground, while the Grip Control feature allows for what’s functionally a low-speed cruise control.
