2023 vs. 2022 Subaru Outback: What’s New?

Cars can change dramatically from model year to model year. We’ve recently welcomed some more 2023 models to our dealership, including the 2023 Subaru Outback. If you’re curious about how it’s different from the 2022 Subaru Outback, the experts here at Serra Subaru Champaign would be happy to tell you.
Exterior Design
The front end of this year’s Subaru Outback model looks a little different. The front end looks more modern, with a new bumper and a larger grille on every trim level but the Wilderness. That model mostly keeps its current look.
The body cladding near the wheel arches has also been adjusted. Overall, if you liked how the Subaru Outback looked before you’ll probably appreciate the 2023 edition.
Safety Upgrades
The included EyeSight® safety features have also received a bit of an update. New software and new cameras help give your 2023 Subaru Outback a wider field of view. That can make it easier for your car to sense or spot approaching vehicles and other potential obstacles.
Engine Choices
Some trim levels on the 2022 Subaru Outback offered multiple engine choices. The Onyx Edition was not one of them. That changes for the 2023 model.
Now you can choose between two different engines. You can equip a 2023 Subaru Outback Onyx Edition with a 2.5-liter engine that produces 182 horsepower, or you can opt for a turbo engine that ups the output to 260 horsepower.
Smartphone Integration
The 2023 Subaru Outback now offers wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity when equipped with the 11.6-inch touchscreen.
